it was 1996. i was in high school. my parents had been sepperated for a few years now and my 2 younger sisters and myself were not having an easy time. my mom was with this asshole of a man. i hated him. he would just drink and high. he had my mother doing it too. he would drink and yell at me and call me all types of names. good for nothing, no one will ever love you, fat, ugly, the list goes on. as long as he didnt bother my sisters i had no problem with taking the it. better me then them. a few years of that can mess a kid up. then the day came where my mother sat me down alone and said she needed to tell me something important. she looked right at me and said,"i went to the doctor and found out i have HIV". WHAT THE FU*K!! i was so confused. how? she'd only been with 2 men her whole life. i didnt know what to say. what could you say? eventually i asked how. heres the messed up part. her boyfriend was married. before he was married his wife was in the military. while in the military she was a fu*king hoe! she had so much unprotected sex that she ened up getting HIV and didnt know it. she gave it to him, he gave it to my mom. its messed up how things happen. i guess its just the way its suppose to be. she wasnt the best mother but shes the only one i have... he's been out of the picture for many years. and i'm happy to say that my mom is fine and currently undetectable.
